Why Pluto? Pluto is the planet of death and rebirth. As an artist, I feel that it's a process we go through continuously. We morph into new forms, our work changes as we grow, and our inspiration is different in various moments of life.
This one time publication is a direct reflection of that very thought. Every photo, story, interview, and set of words in this collection mirrors where we are. It's a collection of personal pieces. However, where art is generally a very individualistic pursuit, Pluto is a publication that brings us together.
Originally, the publication was large format, then it was an ebook. Because of a handful of glitches and platform issues, it's neither. Instead, the collection is an 8x10 art book with a glossy front, and matte interiors. It's also important to note that I wanted to create something that was a true collaboration. All of these lovely individuals put in images well aware that we wouldn't be creating this to make money. The price on the publication is the price of printing. Nobody here is making money, but art isn't necessarily always about that, is it?
I hope you enjoy Pluto as much as I do. It's been such a joy to work with these talented individuals, and I'm so happy to finally have it completed! Thank you to those who participated, and thank you to those who will place it on their coffee tables in the future.
